It is with the heaviest heart and through burning tears that I bring this terrible news to this message board.
I, myself, have not visited this board in far too long, but at one time it was the living information center of the NorCal hardcore scene and Sammy was one of it's heaviest contributors. Whether you agreed with his opinions or not, I found his offerings interesting, prescient and a gift that helped keep the heart of this amazing culture pumping and the adventure ever moving forward. I don't have many details and I STILL don't facebook but news seems to be trickling about this tragic event and his apparent heroic end.
When All Bets Off announced their last show many who visited this board bemoaned their impending demise. The show itself, presented in their DVD "It Meant Something To Someone" was a blazing swan song that exemplified everything that was right about the local scene at that time. If you don't have it -- get it.
He was a friend to my sons and I and selflessly offered whatever he could to help bolster our love for music and living a full, beautiful life. I could go on at great length about what we shared through his bands ABO, Ramparts, Grace Alley and his numerous ventures and events, but I'll say simply this: My life is better for having known him. I believe that there are many who share that sentiment.
To those who knew and loved him we offer our deepest condolences.
